“Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4
Have you ever watched a movie or TV show or read a book where you know the outcome; maybe you’ve seen it before or you can just predict the way the writers are going; and you want to fast forward to the good stuff, to the happy ending? You know what I’m talking about, the two people who are destined to be together but just can’t quite get things right, or the hero that hasn’t figured out his super power or strength and keeps falling down. If you’re like me, you just want to know the ending. My family gets irritated with me because I sometimes research shows online to get the “scoop” so I’m always in the know of what’s to come. Please tell me I’m not the only one, someone else does this too?
In life we often wish for a fast forward button too, right? During a time of hardship or when we’re being tested we wish we could just skip to the end, to the good stuff. This is really where faith kicks in, we have to trust the Writer of our story to get us through the rough stuff and help us find our happy ending. Most times we have to face these hard times in order for us to really appreciate the good stuff! Now, some people will tell you life isn’t like the movies, there isn’t always a happy ending and sometimes you have to just settle for what you have been given. I believe our God loves us so much and wants us to have joy, He is our happy ending.
This week in our reading, Joyce mentions over and over about the dread and guilt we tend to hold on to and how we need to let it go. I would like to encourage you today to let go of anything you are holding on to that is not of God. Begin to trust Him through your hard times, trust He will not let go of you and without a fast forward button you will get to the good stuff!
Prayer: Thank you Lord for Your constant love and faith in us, even when we don’t believe it; forgive us for not recognizing You during our hard times and trying so hard to fast forward our lives. Today we let go of any dread or guilt we have been holding on to and we surrender ourselves to You. In Jesus name, Amen!
