“Behold it was for my peace that I had intense bitterness; but You have loved back my life from the pit of corruption and nothingness, for You have cast my sins behind Your back.” Isaiah 38:17
Love this ancient passage! Isaiah the prophet, 700 years before the Messiah was even born, declared “You have loved back my life from the pit of corruption and nothingness, for You have cast my sins behind Your back.” Isaiah experienced salvation! This is the principle of salvation: He took all our sins and sickness and bitterness and ugliness, throwing it behind his back where He can never remember it again.
So why should we try to? Why do we dwell on our past mistakes and failures? Because we have an enemy who reminds us of it. But we can choose not to listen to the accuser who brings all that up again. We know we triumph in Christ.
Remember it like this: when Jesus was on the cross, what was behind Him? A cross. Not only that, when they took His broken body from that ugly bloody cross, He’d born all for us. He left our sins there behind Him on the cross, too. He left the cross, the instrument of death, along with all the sins of humanity there, on that cross. And what happened? He arose three days later, buying our victory… defeating death, hell, and the grave.
It’s time to live on the resurrection side with Him! Joyce Meyer on page 186 of our devotional “Trusting God Day by Day” reminds us of this! Stop living on the cross side. He’s not dead anymore! We get life with Him! Not just tomorrow, but NOW! Resurrection life flows through our veins because we belong to Him. He bought us. He paid for us at the cross, and He eternally sealed our redemption at the cross.
Jesus, thank You! Thank You for dying. But thank you for living again! Thank You for resurrection life. It’s Yours, but it’s mine. I’m crucified with You, and I’m alive in You!
